When I read our mission statement, "To grow to be a generation of girls and women who desire to know God's love, to love Him more every day, and share God's love wherever we go," it makes me want to pinch myself. We are declaring these truths over today’s generation of women and young girls in prayer. However, God then reminds me it is because of Him we are in this position.
Adore is more than just something nice to belong to; we exist because God has called us to be a community of believers. This group of Christian women do hasn’t been confined to a small area of the globe, rather the women and girls of Adore span across the UK and further afield, acting as a reflection of the Great Commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20: Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations...And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...”
Jesus has sent us to gather people of different races and nationalities. In a world that tries to create barriers between nations, Jesus is clear that these have no bearing on who can hear the Word of God, and Adore exists to reach everyone who will hear regardless of race, background or disability.
As Christ followers, we have a responsibility to share His Word. How we share his word will look different for every believer based on their gifting. For some, it may be preaching, for others it may be hosting and sharing a meal with someone.
At Adore, we seek to be a people who desire to know God’s love, to love the Lord more every day, and to share God’s love wherever we go. These things are not easy but the more we seek His name and practise putting Him first in everything we do, the easier it will become.
The Prophecy I Was Given From Birth
For those who do not know me or my story, God has performed countless miracles in my life, especially when it comes to my health. Medical professionals predicted I would die my early years or that I would definitely have a learning disability if I survived. Neither of these things happened, and almost everything medical professionals said I would not be able to do, I have done. I believe it is because of God that I have come this far.
As I was growing up, many people would bring one verse to my attention. I believe this was the verse that God gave me to live my life by:
"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)
Living with a disability can be challenging. Sometimes I could not understand why God had not prevented me from being born into this situation. However, the more I came to know Jesus and developed my relationship with Him, I realised these things happened for a reason. It was a part of His plan and I could not argue with that.
I had a decision to make on how I responded to the situation. I could be miserable about it, and not do anything with my life or I could decide to make the most of the things I can do and the opportunities I am given.
This verse says that God knew me before He formed me in my mother’s womb. He created me and set me apart to be my own person. He appointed me to live the life I have been given and to tell my own story.
It is the same for you too. God knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. He created you and set you apart to be your own person. He appointed you to live the life you have been given and your own story to tell.
My questions for you are:
Are you ready for the mission God has for you? Are you going to join us in the mission God has set before us at Adore?
